Dear Mummies......
wearing a corset/girdle does help to reduce the size of your tummy/waist..... it has scientific proof.--As we wear a corset, we tend to have to control our muscles (sucking in our stomach). Work is done here and hence, when work is being done, fats is being burned (however minute it can be).As you control your abdominal muscles, you are in fact doing strengthening for your core muscles (Longitudinal and latinudinal abdominal muscles, obliques and upper and lower back). When your muscles become strengthened, they will help to burn fats even when you are not active (e.g. sleeping at night) as muscles utilise more energy to sustain. --that is why men will not feel as cold as women though they have less fats.. they have bigger muscles that are burning energy--producig heat even when they are watching a movie in a movie theatre.Core muscles are trained usually through pilates.Nevertheless, the effects will usually not be visible instantly, it may take weeks/months.

However, long-term wearing of corset does help to improve posture and strengthen core muscles, which will definitely give you a better waistline. If you do not want to wear a corset/girdle, you can also train your muscles by consciously sucking in your stomach at all times..which can be difficult sometimes. (hence several years ago someone invented a trainer pager thingy which you wear on your waist. If you slacken your muscles, the pager will vibrate to remind you to suck in your stomach)Try it ladies..

I am also now trying to slim down my waist by sucking in my stomach at all times.. not only will your waist seem smaller (by 1inch maybe), your boobs will seem bigger. (stomach in chest out) hee hee hee hee.
